Where can I play live backgammon?

Backgammon has been around for several years now. In the recent years, it has been noted that many people are developing an active interest in the game and they are trying really hard to teach their children too. As a result, if you are one of those beginners who are interested in playing the game then do think about learning the basics and then enrolling for regular live tournaments. We know that not everyone is an expert but at live backgammon tournaments you can actually make sure that you play with a person of the same caliber or a slightly better caliber. There are several methods by which you can sign up for a live backgammon tournament and here is a quick guide to how:

  • Find a local backgammon club where you will be able to register with the local association of your locality. There will always be people of the same playing caliber in the club and they will also be assigned grades that you can compare wit. You will be able to choose people to play with or to observe your match and to give you updates about the way you play.
  • Make sure that you add your name to club lists for players who would like to play practice matches. Each club will always have waiting lists of partners who you can pair with to learn more about the playing of backgammon. Try to find players who are of a slightly higher caliber or at the same caliber to play with.
  • You may have to bring your own backgammon board with you as most clubs will not be able to supply so many playing boards and checkers to play with.
  • Make sure that you follow the rules of the games with etiquette, turning off your mobile and not smoking while playing. Make sure that you get in touch with the local backgammon club to get the latest rules and regulations of the club too. Make sure that you do not talk during the games and do not chat to spectators to prevent distracting your opponent.
  • At the end of every game make sure that you write down the score and show it to your opponent to find out whether you have the same tally.

Backgammon games are not necessarily for expert players. You will always find people who will play with you and give you sufficient competition. Make sure that you register well in the division that you are supposed to be in.
