How to play backgammon?

Well it’s an interesting game; let me tell you that first off! Backgammon has been around for several years and it’s a two player game played on a wooden board.

Wooden board arrangement
The wooden board has narrow triangles that are arranged in an alternate pattern of color. The triangles are further arranged into four separate quadrants. Each section or quadrant is further dividing into each players section and is called the home board of that player, the outer board, the opposition’s home board and the outer board. Home boards and outer boards are divided from each other by a center ridge called the bar.

Points numbering
Points are numbered for each player depending on the home boards of the player. The outermost triangle is labeled as twenty four points and is denoted as one point for the opposition. Each player will have fifteen checkers that are arranged in a specific pattern. The pattern is as follows- two checkers placed on the player’s twenty-four point, five checkers are placed on each player’s thirteen points, three checkers are placed on the players eight point, and five checkers are placed on each players six point. Each player also has his own dice and dice cup. Doubling cubes are used to track the stakes of the games.

The object of the game
The main purpose of the game is to shift all your checkers into your personal home board and then remove them. The first person who does this wins the game.

Moving the checkers
Moving the checkers determines exactly which player will wind. The roll of the dice decides the pips and allows the checkers to move only to open points not occupied with two or more checkers. Two dice are played and they indicate the number of moves to be done.

These rules are sufficient to get a basic idea of the game but the game has several intricacies that are included in the game rules. It’s a good idea to take on a class just in case.
